Vancouver magazine offers internships for qualified candidates looking to gain magazine experience in the areas of editorial, design, online, photography, and marketing.
Editorial Internship
Editorial internships are offered for four-month periods and include an honorarium of $1,000. Duties including fact-checking articles, story and/or photo research, responding to reader queries, and providing general administrative support as needed. Interns attend editorial meetings and are encouraged to pitch story ideas. Interns may also be asked to write sidebars or short articles for the magazine. Online Editorial Internship
Online internships are offered for three-month periods and include an honorarium of $750. Duties including posting stories and images on the website, updating the magazine's social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), story and/or photo research, and providing general administrative support as. Online interns attend editorial meetings and are encouraged to pitch story ideas. Online interns may also be asked to write sidebars or short articles for both the print edition and online edition of the magazine.

Design Internship
Design internships are offered for three-month periods and include an honorarium of $750. We are looking for highly motivated, detail-oriented people with postsecondary experience in the design field. (We train but expect the candidate to have strong typographic/creative skills.) Duties include basic page layout assignments for front and back of book, image research, basic office tasks, website/marketing materials, and other duties that may come up. Interns work closely with art directors and attend editorial meetings where they are encouraged to share their creative ideas. The internship commitment is full-time.

Photography Internship
We are currently looking for a photography intern who is highly motivated, creative, and interested in getting a foot into the editorial photography world. The intern will help compile photos for our publications ( Vanmag, CityGuide, and Eating & Drinking Guide ) as well as our website. The intern will work closely with art directors and editors to start to compile an image database of our exciting city.
We are looking for a candidate who has flexible hours, but the time commitment is negotiable. Generally our internships span 3 months with an honorarium of $750.
