Final contests in men's and women's shorttrack speedskating brought gold to Canada and China
It was the Charles Hamelin show Friday night with dual golds in men's shorttrack speedskating. First up was the 500-metre final, a contest between giants we've come to know so well over the course of the Games. Hamelin emerged triumphant, but not before heartstopping deliberations by the video-replay judges for a crash leading around the final turn. American hardware collector Apolo Ohno was ultimately disqualified for illegal contact, leaving Korean Si-Bak Sung in silver and Canadian François-Louis Tremblay with bronze.
Half an hour later, Hamelin and Tremblay were back on the ice for the men's 5,000-metre relay. In these shots: dual gold winner Charles Hamelin, South Korea's Si-Bak Sung, and China's Meng Wang.
