Gyoza King 1508 Robson St., West End, 604-669-8278 Eat The gyoza (plump pan-fried dumplings stuffed with pork, prawns, and chives with signature spicy dipping sauce, $6.95) are king, but this menu is full of fun surprises. Try the beef tongue robata ($4.95), albacore tataki with ponzu ($7.50), and big bowls of miso-scented ramen topped with slabs of pork. Ebi mayo (tempura prawns) also satisfies Drink Extensive saké and shochu selection. Try its version of the kamikaze (saké, passion-fruit liqueur, and ginger ale, $4.95) or stick with large, ice-cold bottles of Sapporo The Skinny Shoebox-sized room hosts big fun to the sounds of clinking glasses and shouted greetings from staff. Secure the large table to the left of the entrance, kick off your shoes, and call your friends. The more you bring, the more diverse fare you get to sample. Open till 1 a.m. weekdays, 1:30 a.m. weekends.

Abigail’s Party 1685 Yew St., Kitsilano, 604-739-4677. Eat Pulled-pork po’ boy on French baguette ($12), warm Camembert on pesto-brushed bruschetta ($7), and duck-confit quesadillas ($13). For sweet tooths, the signature Coffee and Doughnuts—espresso crème brûlée with cinnamon sugar doughnuts ($7) Drink Wine list favours quality over quantity, and the affable, well-crafted cocktails like the gin-soaked Femme Fatale are a definite draw The Skinny Laid-back vibe and come-as-you-are service are just the thing when the rest of Kitsilano turns into a pumpkin at midnight.

Eat Gord Martin’s tantalizing tapas like Navajo fry bread with goat cheese and oven-dried tomato salsa ($8), beef Wellington wrapped with portobello and phyllo pastry with Marsala pan jus ($15), and deep bowls of steamed mussels ($12) Drink Sip Liberty School Cab or a rustic Spanish garnacha from a well-chosen list of wines. A cold sleeve of Red Devil Pale Ale is sure to do the trick, as will the boozy “Bingria” The Skinny Great tunes, killer service, and love from the kitchen until 1:30 a.m.  

Granville Room 957 Granville St., Downtown, 604-633-0056. Eat Snack on panko-crusted scallops ($9) or mussels Provençal steamed in Chardonnay, fresh basil, and tomato concassé ($11). Bigger appetites will seek AAA beef tenderloin with goat cheese potato gratin and peppercorn demi ($22) or the mustard- and herb-marinated lamb loin, served with chive mascarpone polenta ($20) Drink Well-poured Guinness, jeroboams of refreshing Hoegaarden, and an impressive Scotch list will make you rethink the lineups and cover charges of nearby clubs The Skinny Urban oasis brings a touch of class to Granville Street. Dark woods, intimate setting, and funky beats lure late-night loungers for food and drink until 2 a.m. nightly.

Eat House-made guacamole and chips ($9.25), turkey tostada with apricot mole ($12.75), fresh seafood ceviche ($13.25), and crispy beef taquitos ($10.75) Drink Mango margaritas, ice-cold bottles of south-of-the-border brews, and an enviable list of mescal and Patrón The Skinny This is where restaurant industry folk come to play after service. Open till 2 a.m. nightly.

Norboo 1536 Robson St., West End, 604-806-0369. Eat Generous family-style platters of spicy pork, tofu, gahl bee (barbecue beef short ribs, $10.99), and chicken jap chae (sweet-potato noodles, $14.99) lure Korean ex-pats, West End locals, and chefs fresh off their shifts Drink Keep the pitchers of draft coming to take the edge off the spicy fare, but beware—once you get into the bottles of lemon soju (Korean rice vodka) there’s no turning back The Skinny This room is not much to look at, but the plethora of authentic Korean eats served well after 2 a.m. guarantee you’ll leave satiated  

Revel Room 238 Abbott St., Gastown, 604-687-4088. Eat Moroccan lamb meatballs with flatbread ($12), seared albacore tuna with yakisoba noodles ($12), and hawker-style chicken and prawn satays ($12) Drink It’s not a wine list; it’s a Dead Kennedys song that hits hard and fast, and possibly leaves you with a headache. Sample the signature cocktails like Robert’s bourbon-laced Kentucky Bluegrass or Jack’s Canada—Crown Royal with a maple infusion that makes it altogether patriotic The Skinny Gastown party people in search of good times and liquid refreshment find it in this aptly name room. Food and drink till 2 a.m.
