Of all the city's haunted houses (and there are plenty of Mickey Mouse options) we've settled on this one, a relatively new and amateur-run offering, as the most genuinely frightening. The Dunbar haunt is run by a pack of family and friends, but production value has become exponentially higher, year by year: last year, "Horror through the Ages" brought visitors through an elaborate ancient Egypt into a future with genetically modified pumpkins. (Children and the faint of heart can experience a PG version between 1 and 6 p.m.). Admission by donation. Located at 6478 Dunbar, in Southlands.
