The New Music in New Places concert series brings a selection of contemporary classical Canadian music to three stationary carriages of the Rocky Mountaineer and Whistle Mountaineer trains (including the Glacier Dome car and the bi-level GoldLeaf Dome Coach). Views of downtown Vancouver at night serve as scrim while a set of short and intimate "mini-concerts" play out on the train and then in the renovated vintage station. Ariel Barnes (cello), Kathryn Cernauskas (flute), AK Coope (clarinet), and Heather Pawsey (soprano) are joinged by pianist Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa. The train theme is maintained throughout, with performances of: Violet Archer's Train at Night, Paul McIntryre's At the Railway Station, and others.
