VANCOUVER MAGAZINE INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION

Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Shiraz Proprietor's Grand Reserve 2004, B.C. $25.99

The good news: heat-loving Shiraz is thriving here in cool-climate B.C. This wine is a perfect example, magically combining Old World (smoky, gamey, herbal) and New World (fresh, fruity) characteristics. The bad news: the cat is out of the bag. This wine won the “World’s Best Shiraz” trophy at the International Wines and Spirits Competition in London, and there are only 900 cases of it.
