This brick-walled, gritty-yet-modern “little Nuevo Latino restaurant that could” on its oft-forgotten stretch of Powell, proving that Vancouver’s enthusiasm for experimentation in Latin cuisine has yet to be exhausted. Achiote-laced tortilla soup and fried Baja rockfish tacos remain must-have mainstays, but keep a keen eye out for some of chef/co-owner Stu Irving’s newer delights, like jerk-sauced Diver scallops kissed with pineapple. The service is still strong, as is the rum, cachaca, and tequila-soaked cocktail list.
