Kitsilano’s premier Italian destination (previously named Quattro on Fourth) continues to captivate. Soft light from wrought-iron chandeliers illuminates Campari-coloured walls and lacquered cherrywood tables in an elegant room where exceeding expectations is routine. Chef Bradford Ellis conjures robust flavours from carefully chosen ingredients, from the black-currant succo drizzled atop his herb-crusted lamb rack ($34.95) to the roasted Pacific halibut with a pancetta and Cimini ragu ($32.95). Spicy signature Spaghetti Quattro ($16.95) will make a vintage Barbaresco sing, and the supple mascarpone and wild mushroom stuffed ravioli ($22.95) are toothsome treasures. Owner Patrick Corsi proves a gracious host, orchestrating service that is both knowledgeable and perfectly choreographed. Deep wine list reads like a love song to Italy, and the sour cherry mille-feuille ($6.95) will have you walking on air.
