Manny Ferreira of Le Gavroche initially tapped his roots when he opened the city’s first Portuguese fine dining spot. Lately, he’s broadened his reach to take in the Mediterranean. Besides, traditional salt cod fritters with piri piri, caldo verde, and pork and clams, you now see beef tenderloin with confited shallots, or crab cakes with roasted red pepper aioli. Few decent eateries hereabouts, so wisely he keeps a lock on the Kerrisdale locals with theme nights that shine the spotlight on paella, pasta, and totally delectable suckling pig.
