Bistrot Bistro
October 9, 2009
Laurent and Valerie Devin’s charming French bistro further ensnared the hearts of Kits folk this year with experienced and authentic cooking that told no lies. The stark but colourful interior fits right in with the neighbourhood, its greys and greens never sad. The garage-window frontage opens the room to al fresco dining on any good evening. Try Laurent’s pert and effective caramelized onion, smoked bacon, and gruyère tart ($8), a savoury delight best followed with a steaming pot (an actual pot) of Fisherman’s Stew ($19). So intoxicatingly smelly. The menu is priced to sell, and the wine list is trim and well chosen. Valerie is an enchanting host.
