A unique fixture on the Gastown gastronomic circuit inspired by the many cuisines and traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean. Co-owner/chef Stu Irving’s imaginings hit more than they miss: start the adventure with albacore ceviche; achiote-spiced tortilla soup; and a brace of wild boar chorizo tacos laced with sunchokes and nugget potatoes. Continue with glistening wild boar belly glazed with maple, chipotle, and tamarind; to-die-for cornbread lathered with sweet chili butter; and jerk-spiced local scallops saddled with sweet potato chips. The stylishly appointed, copper-accented, and original brick-walled interior is tightly contained on three narrow levels, each with its own mood. The wine program is decent, as are the largely Latin-themed cocktails.
