The return of this much-loved Kits diner had foodie tongues wagging. End result is a minimalist ’40s and ’50s wonder to behold, with mint, stainless steel, and creams flashing with chrome and deco motifs. The 100 percent additive- and preservative-free beef burgers are as remembered, with soft buns, unseasoned patties made fresh throughout the day, and house sauce. A little pricey for a burger joint at $10.95 (which includes a serving of cut-to-order fries) for the entry-level version (extras like cheese and bacon cost $1.25), but you get what you pay for. Milkshakes, sodas, and malts are the real deal.
