It may have moved to a larger venue last year, but Doña
Cata (Gold) still uses old family recipes.
The menu expanded, but the taco plates and numerous
salsas are still favourites.
Rinconcito Salvadoreño (Silver),
where diners pack the house for Ana Herrera’s handmade pupusas, also keeps it all
in the family. Soon it will offer a lunch/brunch menu.
Baru Latino (Bronze)
is a lively, modern room offering Latin chips (cassava,
yam, and
plantain,
accompanied by three salsas) and Cartagena-style halibut.
Also be sure to indulge in its South American–inspired
cocktails.
Cobre (Honourable Mention)
mingles the flavours of Argentina, Cuba, Brazil, and
Mexico. The dulce de leche is seriously bueno.
Me & Julio (Honourable
Mention) serves as satellite to the sexy West End phenom
that is Lolita’s.
