Tojo Hidekazu continues to grow into his West Broadway temple to seasonal and local. Tojo’s (Gold) “sets the standard for innovation that remains true to Japanese ideals of simplicity and freshness,” said one judge. “Steamed sablefish was buttery and perfectly cooked.”

The Raw Bar at Blue Water Cafe (Silver) “consistently cranks out some of the best sushi and sashimi anywhere,” enthused another, “thanks to disciplined and expert knife skills, top-notch sourcing, and informed service.”

Bronze to En, the city’s most undersung fusion restaurant.

Honourable Mentions to Yoshi (where devotees of soba and Kaiseki continue to flock) and Octopus’ Garden (for top-drawer toro).
