Rag & Bone designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville began making denim "their friends would wear" in Tennessee in 2002. Since then, their ready-to-wear collections have grown to define what a cool girl wants to look like on her best day. No wonder so many "it girls" turned up to Holt Renfrew's Rag & Bone fete on Tuesday to bat their eyes at the designers.
Besides Marcus and David, who resemble a Brit boy band more than sartorial geeks, the crowd included artist Michele Kambolis, JNBY's Raffaele Megaro, FASHION magazine's new editor Joy Pecknold, and almost the entire staff of the Waldorf.
Guests sipped sake cocktails and Peroni while browsing Rag & Bone's S/S 2011 collection now available at Holt Renfrew. Highlights include sheer rouge shifts, silky military outerwear, bold sapphire prints, and nubby crochet accents. The lucky and the patient were able to don their pick and pose for prom photos with the designers.
