“Stage Fright: The Theatricality of Performance,” an essay by celebrated local artist Judy Radul, was the inspiration for this exhibit bringing together ideas about sculpture and choreography. Featuring work by Radul and Vancouver’s Geoffrey Farmer and international artists Ulla von Brandenburg, Guy de Cointet, Janice Kerbel, and Daria Martin, it incorporates a range of media: fabric, screen prints, video, and a work that transforms for the duration of the exhibit according to a musical score.

According to the artist, Henry—an exhibit designed for a fictional character—is reminiscent of Henry Tang, Hong Kong’s current and controversial Chief Secretary for Administration. Fictional Henry loves to drink expensive wine, tries to ruin Hong Kong, and seeks refuge in his apartment, away from civic duties. With hand-painted cloths, performance videos, and cardboard paintings, Lee comments on the space between personal and social environments against a backdrop of domesticity.
