Romeo et Juliette

Vancouver Opera performs Gounod’s version of Shakespeare’s tragedy with all the good stuff: emotional duets, balcony scenes, and deaths by poison and dagger. Get swept away by graceful and melodic music of French opera at its most romantic. UBC grad Simone Osborne (now 24, she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2008, one of the youngest performers ever to do so) returns from Toronto’s Canadian Opera Company to debut her Juliette with the V.O.

Handel's Messiah

Revered by Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart as the greatest composer who ever lived, Handel is perhaps best known for this work, interpreted here by conductor Jon Washburn and the VSO.

Festive Bach Cantatas for Christmas
