The animated film, based on the graphic novel of the same name, chronicles the coming-of-age of precocious artist Marjane Satrapi during and in the wake of the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The film’s screening coincides with the Vancouver Art Gallery’s presentation of CO-MIX, a retrospective of comic artist Art Spiegelman, whose Maus the work has often been compared to.

Bollywood fans from across the globe have cast their votes. Now, India's biggest films, directors, musicians, and stars are descending on Vancouver for the Times of India Film Awards. The festivities open with-what else-a musical extravaganza at Pacific Coliseum on April 4, and conclude with a massive April 6 awards ceremony at BC Place. Keep your eyes peeled on Vancouver's streets for A-listers like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Katrina Kaif.

Whistler Film Festival

90 fims (50% are Canadian) make up the 12th annual Whistler Film Festival. Last year 10,000 attendees mingled with more than 500 industry folk in a spee of world premieres and juried awards with a special focus on promoting new talent from the region. (Starwatching tip: Rumour has it that Daniel Radcliffe and Parks and Recreation's Rashida Jones will be spending some time in the village.)
