Oyster Invitational 2011

Jul 10, 2011

Hopefully you can slurp down oysters as fast as the competitors can shuck them, because they'll be coming fast and furious at Bearfoot Bistro's World Oyster Invitational this Sunday. Eighteen of the world's greatest shuckers will be competing to break the Guiness World Record (38 oysters opened in a minute!), as lucky guests enjoy the fruits of their labour paired with wine and innovative mignonettes. Proceeds go to Canadian Red Cross Japan Relief.

Fanny Bay Oyster Seafood Shop

Shucking, serving, and smoking bivalves for over 20 years, Fanny Bay is more than an oyster oasis. Start with fresh in-season fish and then work your way over to the hand-peeled Port Alberni shrimp, savoury clams, or a pile of black bean garlic mussels. For those with an eye on Aphrodite, it’s oysters—ready-shucked or live.
