‘Wines of BC’ Dinner at The Salted Vine Kitchen + Bar

It’s worth the drive to attend the Wines of BC Dinner at the Salted Vine in Squamish (the caramel poached pear dessert sounds worth the drive by itself). Chef Jeff Park will pair Pacific Northwest-inspired flavours with a variety of some of B.C.’s best wines.

Vancouver Greek Food Festival

If you’ve never tried loukoumades before, now’s your chance – these drenched, fried balls of dough are great for anyone with a sweet tooth. You can also expect lots of souvlaki, live performances and heritage displays.

Form@ Dinner Series

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in May, the Mackenzie Room will present a four-course meal with beer or wine pairings. The four-part series will feature lamb, BBQ, oceans, and veg—choose one or go to all four! The meals will focus on sustainability and local ingredients.

DISH – Drink. Indulge. Savour. Help. 

Want to eat, drink, and mingle for a good cause? This event will feature food from 11 Vancouver restaurants as well as wine from over 30 U.S. wineries. The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation is hosting this fundraising event, where proceeds will go towards a scholarship program and provide assistance for hospitality workers with medical conditions.

Spot Prawn Festival 

Want to try some tasty pandalus platyceros (sort of sounds like a dinosaur, doesn’t it)? Vancouver’s annual spot prawn festival is coming up, and you can try spot prawn chowder or taste from a lunch menu of six prawn dishes. There will also be bread from Terra Breads, a range of beverages, a kid’s area, and live music.

Thursday Wine Dinners at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar

If you love wine as much as I do, this is the event for you. In the first event on May 23, Boulevard will host Master Sommelier Nick Hetzel who will detail four wines from France, California, and Hungary, paired with a multi-course meal by Chefs Alex Chen and Roger Ma. The May 30 ‘La Paulée’ event will showcase classics from the Burgundy and Northern Rhone regions of France.

Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival

Shuck it Forward V

Name a better way to spend an afternoon than watching experts shuck oysters for a prize, I’ll wait. This is the fifth Shuck it Forward fundraising event, where Bikers for Autism is raising  money for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. The event will also have live music, a raffle, and a silent auction.
