3 Days of DL Chicken and Boombox Brewing? Sign Us Up

The collaboration we didn't know we absolutely needed.

What happens when you mix the winner of Best Casual at our most recent Restaurant Awards with one of the city’s better (albeit unheralded) breweries and add in a good cause?

Apparently you get a double-dry hopped IPA and a limited edition chicken burrito, courtesy of Boombox Brewing and DownLow Chicken Shack, respectively.

The beer is dubbed “Hyped” and comes loaded with the kind of specialty hops that beer drinkers have come to associate with Boombox (which operates out of Parallel 49). The IPA has “tropical, passionfruit, mango, and lychee notes, with fresh crushed gooseberries and spicy black pepper,” according to a release.

And if the packaging looks vaguely familiar, that’s not a mistake either.

“The packaging is our cheeky ode to sneaker culture, while raising money for a great cause within our very own community,” says founder of Boombox Kent Courtice, noting that proceeds of the beer will go toward the Vancouver Food and Beverage Community Relief Fund

Meanwhile, the limited edition “Boom Chicken Boom Boom Burrito” from DL Chicken Shack is “the perfect pairing with this beer,” says the restaurant’s co-owner Doug Stephen. “The flavours go well with all the hops.”

To ensure proper social distancing, 40 four-packs a day will be available between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a limit of two four-packs per person.

Here’s how you can get your hands on the goods from Thursday to Saturday this week:

DDH IPA Beer: Available at DL Chicken with the purchase of a chicken sando, The American for takeout and delivery, and BoomBox Brewing online for delivery.

Boom Chicken Boom Boom Burrito: Available only at The American for takeout and delivery.
