1. Queer as Funk

July 30

Vancouver-based band Queer as Funk is kicking off Pride with a celebration of community, hope and inclusivity. The high-energy eight-piece band features killer vocals, horns and a tight rhythm section which means you can expect a pretty incredible dance party.

2. That’s Gay! A Queer Comedy Show

July 29

This brand-new night of improv and stand-up features an all-queer, all-star cast that will keep you laughing. The evening is hosted by Vancouver’s favourite goofball Erin Purghart, and audiences can expect hilarious heavy hitters including Sasha Mark, Harrison Rockel and Ellen MacNevin.

3. Powell Street Festival

July 30-31

Powell Street Festival is back for its 46th year celebrating Japanese Canadian art and culture. Celebrate the dynamic and diverse community with three stages featuring contemporary and traditional artists (like violinist-extremist Kytami), interactive audio-visual installations and food vendors and crafters offering Japanese treats and designs.

4. Continental Circus: Pride & Puppetry

July 27

Come for a dazzling night featuring seventeen drag sensations and six incredible puppets handmade by Continental Breakfast. The theme of the show is queer realization and journeys through each performer’s path to self. You can expect tales of heartbreak, triumph and of course, pride.

5. Fleurs de Villes: Pride

July 27-August 1

In honour of Pride, Fleurs de Villes is back with stunning floral installations that pay homage to Canada’s most famous drag. Local florists are coming together with colourful, dynamic and creative flower sculptures that are meant to shed the light on both the progress and work there is still to do around inclusivity for the 2SLGBTQAI+ communities.
