Dance Dance Revelation

Created by Kevin Fraser and Alyssa Amarshi, Immigrant Lessons is a dance and art collective that tells stories of first- and second- generation immigrants through an eclectic dance mashup (think street dance, hip hop, Dancehall, and Afrobeat). This week's show is part of The Dance Centre's "Discover Dance!" series, which offers monthly shows that combine performance, artist Q&A's, and sometimes audience participation. Be ready to get on your feet.

That's the Tea

Get the lowdown on your tea of choice and taste new favourites at the sixth annual Vancouver Tea Festival. There's a marketplace of tea purveyors serving up samples, plus presentations and plenty of free tastings. Plus, the fest is held at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre, which means a ticket also gets you in to the museum to brush up on your Japanese Canadian history.

Art spaces from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove will be open for behind-the-scenes looks and artist-led demos and activities—and if you're feeling overwhelmed by the 200-plus artists and 81 locations, check out a 'neighbourhood studio cluster' (there's one each in Ambleside, Lower Lonsdale and the Pemberton Avenue Area).
