Wine Fest

1. Vancouver International Wine Festival

May 16 – 22

Oenophiles and wine newbies alike can get their grape on at The Vancouver International Wine Festival. The fest is chock full of tasting events, winery dinners and seminars. The big event of the week is the Baccanalia Gala Dinner, which features a five-course dinner (with wine pairings, of course) live music, dancing and auctions featuring rare wines, getaways and unique culinary experiences.

2. MOVE

May 19 – 21

Arts Umbrella Dance Company’s season finale, MOVE gives you the chance to see works by world renowned international, Canadian and local Vancouver choreographers. This performance is the culmination of months of rehearsals and hard work by the AUDC students.

3. Passages of Rhythms

May 19 – 20

Passages of Rhythms celebrates Asian Heritage Month with a showcase of three genres of dance–Flamenco, Bharatanatyam and voices for the body–as a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration.

Feast’s summer kick-off party was pushed back due to rainy weather, so this week is the week. Get into patio season with complimentary food and drink tasters all to the tune of live music.

5. Vancouver Comic Arts Festival

May 21-22

This two day celebration of comics, graphic novels and their creators features a big exhibition and vendor fair plus readings, panels and workshops. Whether you’re a comic professional, diehard fan or casual reader the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is a great way to support local artists and find something fun to read.
