I love going grocery shopping once every two weeks as much as the next millennial who shares fridge space with three other millennials—which is to say, I hate it and opening my freezer is my second greatest health concern in these trying times. (Ever seen a frozen corn avalanche?) Ye olde coronavirus has also made it more difficult to shop local. Many small businesses have closed, and big-name grocery stores seem to be the best option for getting in, getting yeast, and getting out. Solutions, anyone?

Crickets.

No, actually. Crickets. More specifically, Coho Collective's new online Coho Market, which features local brands like Tality Kombucha, BobAli Foods, and Bite Snacks (energy bars made with cricket protein). The virtual store launched yesterday and is selling more than 100 items from 20 local brands. Think ready-to-eat meals, baked goods, spreads, and sauces. And cricket bars. Live a little.

I'm definitely ready to have a meal that was made locally, but not too locally (read: by a real chef in Metro Vancouver, not by me in my own kitchen). Also, it's so hard to catch your own crickets.
