An experimental art exhibit, a holiday craft fair and an Indigenous-led skateboard festival.
Here’s your weekly roundup of the top events in the city, including art exhibitions, local theatre, restaurant openings, concerts, film, markets and other to-dos we think you’ll love. If you have a Vancouver event you’d like to submit for consideration, send an email to [email protected].
If you have ever thought to yourself in earnest, “sk8 is lyfe,” then I strongly suggest you check out the PNE Forum this Saturday and Sunday for the 7 Gen Skate Festival. It’s a jam-packed weekend that includes an Am Contest (with Men’s and Women’s divisions) a Pro Contest and bonus events (including best tricks, long jump and more), a Saturday night concert, a market, food trucks, and Indigenous-led events including opening/closing ceremonies, blessings and performances. It’s a fun way to connect with the skateboard community (or with your stepson, Kyle.)
When: November 11-12 Where: PNE Forum Cost: From $49 More Info: www.7genskate.com

Love food and female empowerment? (The only acceptable answer: duh, yes!) This Monday at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, the folks at WORTH Association (Women of Recreation, Tourism & Hospitality) are bringing back the fem-forward feast fest, Yes Shef—a culinary celebration of women in Vancouver’s food and beverage industry. Come enjoy tasting stations crafted by female-led teams (of top BC chefs and student apprentices from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts) each responsible for a signature dish. Plus, performances (DJ Pri and the vintage vocal group The Dimes), an award presentation and a silent auction—oh, and let’s not forget wine and cocktails!
When: November 6 Where: Fairmont Pacific Rim Cost: $200 More Info: worthassociation.com/yes–shef-2023
It’s art, history and a dash of rebellion! The Polygon Gallery’s From Slander’s Brand brings three artists together (Hannah Darabi, Rachel Khedoori, and Vancouver’s own Ron Terada) for an exhibit that turns the chaos of history into a visual feast, with a side of cheeky defiance. Come to the special opening night November 9th and get inspired by art that explores history, but not as you know it!
When: November 10- February 4 Where: The Polygone Gallery Cost: Free More Info: thepolygon.ca
