In the Mood for Theatre? Broadway Across Canada Comes to Vancouver This Fall

The upcoming season includes Rent, Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, Finding Neverland and Wicked. Plus, a bonus first-hand grabs at Hamilton tickets for next season.

Lovers of the stage will be delighted to know that some of the most iconic Broadway plays will be making their way to the stages of Queen Elizabeth Theatre this fall for Broadway Across Canada’s 2019/20 season. The theatrical presenter company, which has been gracing Vancouver stages with over 90 Broadway productions for 21 years now, is back again with five musicals to enchant and captivate audiences both old and young.And as a bonus treat for this season’s subscribers, Broadway Across Canada is offering first-access grabs at tickets for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton, coming to Vancouver in the 2020/21 season. September 17th to 22nd, 2019 Deri’Andra Tucker, Logan Farine. RENT 20thAnniversary Tour, Image: Carol RoseggInspired by Puccini’s La Bohéme, the personal and professional struggles of seven artists are followed in this Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Jonathan Larson, which celebrates it’s 20th anniversary this tour.


November 12th to 17th, 2019An all-female creative team is at the forefront of this musical about a waitress looking for a new life, inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s film of the same name. Featuring original songs by Grammy-nominee Sara Bareilles and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

Dear Evan Hansen

February 25th to March 1st, 2020 Ben Levi Ross as ‘Evan Hansen’ and the Company of the First North American Tour of Dear Evan Hansen. Image: Matthew Murphy.Six Tony Awards and a Grammy lie under the belt of this profound musical about a boy trying to fit in by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson, with a score by Grammy-, Tony- and Academy Award-winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Finding Neverland

April 7th to 12th, 2020Based on the Academy Award-winning movie of the same name, this musical directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus follows the journey of J.M Barrie as he develops his infamous story of the boy who never grew up, Peter Pan. The magical story will even warm your heart enough to forgive the lack of Johnny Depp in this version.

Image by Joan Marcus.Last of the lineup is Wicked, a classic example of Broadway excellence, inspired by the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and based on the 1995 novel of the same name.  As the season option, the Tony Award-winning untold true story of the witches of Oz will end the season with a magical and musical bang.Broadway Across Canada will start in September 2019 and end in July 2020.
