Solange is Coming to the Rennie Collection This Thursday and Friday

As if you need more proof that the Chinatown gallery is killing it these days.

THE GOOD NEWS…Solange Knowles, sister to Beyoncé, and genre-bending artist/singer/performer is making a surprise visit to our fair town for three shows this Thursday and Friday. She’ll be performing “Scales,” which the museum describes as a “performance piece composed and choreographed by Solange Knowles Ferguson examining protest as a meditation through movement and experimentation of unique compositions and arrangements from A Seat at the Table.”NOW THE BAD…Each performance has only 100 seats and they sold out within minutes. A few people are freaking out because of the Rennie connection. Most people just want tickets.THE SILVER LININGThe Rennie Collection is absolutely killing it these days. Its last show of the Turner Prize-winning artist Simon Starling brought to Vancouver the type of high level international art that is sorely missing from most of our bold name cultural institutions. The next show, by hometown boy Ian Wallace, promises to likewise be blockbuster. And it’s all free—just go on the website and book a tour.
