5 Things to Do in Vancouver This Week (July 6-12)

1. Winner Winner

July 6

In celebration of National Fried Chicken Day, Juke is offering their chicken sammies for half price on Monday. Following the success of last year, they’re limiting service to 10 sandwiches per person (we’re a city of fried chicken fiends, apparently). Pick up a sandwich—or ten, but not eleven—and toast to a national day worth celebrating.

When: Monday July 6
Where: Juke Fried Chicken
Cost: $3.50

2. Work Out (or In)

Turf’s got answers for everyone, regardless of your COVID comfort. Keeping your breath-bubble as tiny as possible? Take a virtual class. Feel good about venturing outside? They’ve got limited-capacity in-person workouts. Either way, there isn’t really an excuse for not getting your sweat on this weelk.

Where: Online or at Turf Kits or Downtown
Cost: $12 virtual drop-in, $25 in-studio drop-in

3. It’s All Greek

July 10 to 12 and 17 to 19

It’s a food festival, reinvented: Vancouver’s Greek Summerfest has pivoted to drive-thru service this year. Order online and then swing by for your barbecue lamb, spanakopita, loukoumades, etc. Our hair and clothes probably won’t smell like barbecue after this drive-by fest, but we’ll take but we can get.

When: July 10 to 12 and July 17 to 19
Where: 4541 Boundary Road

4. Virtual Vij

July 11

Be your own Vikram Vij this Saturday at the Indian Summer Fest’s “Vij’s at Home” event. Participants can either get ingredients delivered (the deadline to order is Monday July 6) or get groceries of their own. Then, we’ll all tune in for the masterclass with Vij hosted by Agam Darshi. On the menu is sprouted lentil, bell pepper and carrot salad, zucchini, squash and potato sauté, and spicy rice pilaf with local vegetables.

When: Saturday July 11 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Where: Online
Cost: Free (by donation) or $165

5. On the Flea

July 12

The Granville Flea Market returns with fresh distancing measures and designated timeslots (party!) this weekend. Register for a one-hour window to check out cool clothing, shoes and weird knickknacks you won’t find anywhere else. There’s also live DJs and a full bar.

When: Sunday July 12 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Where: The American
Cost: $7.38 admission
