Only 12% of permanent public statues in the country commemorate women, so the YWCA of Metro Vancouver is erecting a statue of… nothing? On Monday March 7, “Reserved for Her” is officially unveiled. It’s an empty pedestal meant to be a statement about the lack of Canadian monuments that honour women, and will be on display throughout March (Women’s History Month). And yes, it’s a pedestal that’s meant to be stood on: women are encouraged to step up share photos of themselves to spread awareness.

The Imitation Game: Visual Culture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is now on at the art gallery. The exhibition documents the history of artificial intelligence in animation, architecture, art, fashion, graphic design, urban design and video games.
