Le Refuge, or “The Imaginary World of Marc Ange” is a unique installation inspired by the artist’s childhood memory. The oversized leaves surround a large daybed offering shelter from both sun and reality, much like an imaginary jungle dreamed up by a child’s active imagination.Ange grew up in Rome and initially began his design career in the Italian automotive industry prior to opening his own studio, Bloom Room, in Paris, France. Recently, Ange brought his idyllic inspiration stateside, opening a second Bloom Room in Los Angeles, California. The installation premiered during Milan’s design week in May 2017 and later traveled to the La Faena Hotel in Miami Beach and the LeClaireur in Los Angeles. This modern oasis will be touching down briefly in Richmond for a limited engagement. Le Refuge will be in the Main Galleria of CF Richmond Centre from September 12 to 26, begging to be featured in the feeds of many Vancouver influencers.During Milan Design Week, Le Refuge was deemed the most Instagrammable piece, as visitors clambered to photograph and post photos of the pink, palm frond-surrounded daybed. Since then, the piece has been produced in multiple colours, so you will get the chance to experience a completely unique pic when you visit Ange’s iconic design at CF Richmond Centre this month.Take advantage of this exclusive opportunity to engage with an inspiring piece of modern art, free of charge, before it moves on to other select Canadian cities. CF Richmond Centre is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday) and regularly hosts exciting in-house experiences for its loyal clientele.
