Nordstrom Vancouver Gala Supports Local Charities

The U.S. retail giant aims to establish an ongoing commitment to the community.

Speaking at last night’s (June 24) preview of its new—and first—Vancouver location, Chris Wanlass, general manager of Nordstrom, said the Seattle-based retailer aims to be more involved in the local community than simply occupying a full block downtown. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Nordstrom will celebrate the opening of its Pacific Centre flagship by hosting a charity gala on site, which will benefit BC Children’s Hospital, BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Covenant House Vancouver.“We searched through hundreds of charities before finding the right fit for this community,” explained Wanlass, “which is why Nordstrom will underwrite the gala costs, so 100 percent of the profit can benefit this community’s needs.”There are two ticket levels available for the gala, including a premium ticket that includes a special reception and a fall fashion show. All guests will be the first to get a sneak preview of the store, as well as treated to cocktails, dinner, desserts, and shopping.Tickets are available at nordstromvangala.com.
