The results from our party planning survey are now live.
When we posted the survey we were already well aware that party etiquette in Vancouver is debate-worthy. From how many guests make up the ideal gathering to where you want to celebrate to how invites are sent out—you told us your recipes for the perfect party.
Scroll down to find out the rest of what the vocal Vancouverites had to say about throwing a soiree.
Let’s just say a type-A planner like me didn’t expect that to come down the pipeline. But if sending the invite out into the world and hoping for the best works for the masses, maybe the 4.2% of us who are still sending out physical invitations need to step into the digital future.
The write-in responses for birthday activities are solidly Vancouver-core—from a dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants (like, say, our VanMag 2024 Restaurant Awards Best Special Occasion Editors’ Pick Kissa Tanto) to casual drinks at a brewery, it’s clear a party in this city doesn’t have to be fussy to be a good time.
The majority of respondents invite a reliable close-knit sized group of five to 10 people. This makes sense when we look at where the parties are taking place!
Now my type-A folks are speaking out! Yes, we want to hear back from you, and we want to know as soon as possible so we can adjust our schedules. Though five percent of respondents do say that their friends never RSVP at all—I guess those people are winging it on vibes alone.
Now the question you’ve all been waiting for…
Yup, the end of an era for the millennial hold-outs. With only 25% saying no and the remaining 25% not caring at all, it seems like we can officially rule out Facebook events as the go-to invite platform. Sorry, Zuckerberg.
We personally like to do our invites via email… namely, through our newsletter. Sign up to be the first to know about the coolest events happening in Vancouver and access ticket sales to our own exclusive parties.
Get the latest headlines delivered to your inbox 3 times a week, and you’ll be entered to win a Nanoleaf Renter Bundle, which includes 1 x Smart Multicolor Floor Lamp and 1 x Smart Multicolor Lightstrip.
These lights have customizable colours, can react to the beat or your music and can be controlled through an app. Prize value is $200 CAD.
Each newsletter subscription = 1 entry. Giveaway closes February 28. 2026. The winner will be contacted by an @canadawide.com email. The contest is only open to Canadian residents, excluding Quebec.
