In February, Vancouver magazine asked ten of the city’s top chefs to come up with one-of-a-kind dishes to pair with best-of-category bottles from their 2012 International Wine Competition. The mouthwatering creations produced were showcased alongside the winning wines at the magazine’s 2012 Big Night event on February 10th at the Vancouver Club.
Unique pairings like the Best of Show wine-Dominique Piron Brouilly Domaine Combiaty 2009-with La Quercia’s venison tartare topped with sea urchin, served with juniper and rosemary sauce and a crostini surprised and delighted guests. Even more exciting for many of the attendees was the opportunity to meet the many talented chefs on hand, serving up dishes that ranged from Moroccan bistilla to confit of rabbit, to chilled beef tendon and more (full list of dishes and wines below).
One spot that was especially popular with thirsty partygoers was a wine-only station presented by Legacy Liquor Store, where bubbly flowed and the magazine’s sommelier of the year was on hand to offer tasting tips. It was a full evening of wine and food that left guests both satiated—and hungry for the 2013 event.
