It's peanut butter chocolate time.
Welcome to 24 Days of Beer, in which we guide you through what might be a very dark month. Aren’t you glad we’re here to tell you what to drain your sorrows with?
A second Pemberton-based brewery in as many days? Oh yes. It’s also the return of dark beers for us here at 24 Days of Beer. We made it one day without one, a new record.
With the plethora of local choices we have in Metro Vancouver, it’s something of a sad reality that many excellent breweries from elsewhere in the province get overshadowed.
But while Bad Tattoo Brewing probably wouldn’t be our first or second or 159th choice if we were naming a brewery, the Pemberton haunt has been around since 2014 and demands respect both for its excellent beers and its awesome design.
As always, we have one main rule around getting creative with beer: it needs to taste like its title. And this seasonal favourite is rich, heavy and fully delivers on the peanut butter and chocolate promise.
In fact, since I’m such a model employee, I even made one of our sister publication’s recipes to go along with it. Did I do that to make up for the fact I’m spending all my time these days writing about beer and doing nothing else? Uh, no…
Anywho, props to the good people at Bad Tattoo for not living up to their namesake.
