This rich white goes magnificently with dinner or soft, creamy cheese
It’s no surprise to see this ravishing B.C. white from Le Vieux Pin on our 2016 Wine Awards winners list yet again. One of Canada’s standouts, the Ava speaks to the suitability of Mediterranean white grapes to the south Okanagan, as well as the aging capacity of B.C. wines. This luscious blend of viognier, marsanne, and roussanne is an opulent warming winter white. With her training in Montpellier and years of experience in Languedoc, Le Vieux Pin’s winemaker Severine Pinte is the perfect person to bring out the best of these Mediterranean varieties in the South Okanagan. Unusually rich and full-bodied for a B.C. white, Ava combines classic Okanagan dried apricot and herbal aromas with the astonishing tropical exoticism of orange blossoms and ripe melon. Delicious now, its fresh natural acidity gives it great aging potential. While decadent and satisfying on its own, this wine really deserves a good food pairing like triple cream cheese, a juicy veal chop, or meaty Dungeness crab cake.
