Dream Threads by Sadie Gilker

Show Description:
Dream Threads is a series of mixed media (painting and embroidery) artworks that delve into the subconscious, focusing on grief and joy. Based on dreamscapes following the death of their mother, this show explores the human experience by emulating the texture of things that feel beyond words.

Key Dates:
Thursday May 23: Opening Night, Artist in Attendance 7-11 p.m.
Saturday, May 25: Artist in Attendance 12 – 6 p.m.
Sunday, May 26: Artist in Attendance 12 – 6 p.m., Live demonstrations between 1-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.

Artist Bio:
Sadie Gilker is a non-binary mixed-media embroidery artist from Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) who currently resides on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Dreamscapes, tarot, nature, and witchcraft inform their art practice. They have been published in magazines such as Solastalgia, Bealtaine Magazine, and Glencree Journal. They have appeared in group shows with Cr0w and the Hive Café Solidarity Cooperative in Montreal. In May 2024 they will have their first solo show “Dream Threads” at Slice of Life in Vancouver.

Tickets are available for times when the artist will be in attendance, This RSVP ticket allows for line bypass anytime our gallery is at capacity; your donation goes towards the continued growth of our gallery space and community.

RSVP tickets are also entered to win the door prize of the night. Additional tickets can be purchased for $10!
