Presented by the Community Arts Council of Vancouver, the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival (VOAF) returns for its eighth edition at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre from Oct. 11-13, 2024. The first and only one of its kind in the country, the festival showcases and supports outsider artists coming from a wide range of backgrounds who challenge the conventions of mainstream art. In order to better commit to the values of representation and equity, for the first time ever this year an inclusive curatorial committee came together to select the 56 visual and performing artists that will be featured. The festival’s program includes: Poems from the Kitchen culinary workshops presented in partnership with BC Culture Days, a podcast series in collaboration with SAD Mag, as well as various workshops hosted by VOAF alumni. In continuing VOAF’s partnership with the Outsider Arts Festival of Helsinki, a selection of films curated from the Finnish festival’s lineup will also be available for viewing.
