We asked six wedding caterers (and one bartender!) to dish on their signature dishes and serving style.

Catering can easily eat up (pardon the pun) the largest part of your wedding budget—so you’ll want to make sure you’re making a good investment. With the help of local wedding planners, we found some of the best wedding caterers in the city, asking them to dish on their prices, signature dishes and cooking style. Read on to find out if one of them is a good match for you!

1. Savoury City

Starting Price$150.00 per person, inclusive of menu, service staff, rentals, gratuities and taxes. The menu may include four trays of passed hors d’oeuvres, a two- or three-course family-style dinner (includes two salads to start, a pasta or risotto course, and a duo of proteins and assorted sides), as well as coffee, tea and an infused water station.Signature DishOne of our signature dishes that we like to serve is a minestrone soup. It’s a little more refined than your normal minestrone, and features a spinach-ricotta tortelloni, tomato parmesan consommé and shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. We do this as a starter for a plated dinner, and the presentation is beautiful.Catering StyleWe like to think the style of our food is abundant, refined and effortlessly elegant. We’re farm-to-table—even though it’s become an overused cliché. We like local, we like made-from-scratch, and we like vibrant and healthy. And best of all, we like seasonal.

2. Truffles Fine Foods

3. Railtown Catering

Starting Price$55 per person. We provide all necessary staffing and rentals for food and beverage service, which is priced separately, and has a number of variable factors such as venue, duration of the event, service style, etc.Signature DishOne of our favourite custom-menu items this summer has been a fresh summer salad featuring charred beets and burrata, pickled shallots, blackberries and caramelized honey dressing.Catering StyleOur menus have classical French undertones with a West Coast style and sophisticated presentation. We also enjoy working on custom projects that allow us to be a bit more fun and playful.

The overnight cedar and lavender brine infuses so much flavour and keeps the chicken beautifully moist.Catering StyleThe best way to describe our food is bold, authentic flavours.
