If you happen to be looking for a charming, summery event to attend this coming weekend, your search ends here: The Garden Strathcona is hosting a pop-up plant market on Saturday and Sunday (June 1 and 2), which will feature a host of local makers selling plants and plant-related goods.

Among the products available will be ceramic planters—each ready to hold your fave succulents—woven tapestries and nourishing plant-based face masks. (Pro tip: a cute houseplant makes a great host/hostess gift for the summer!) Intrigued? Here are some of the vendors that will be on deck.

Floral designer Forage and Bloom will be offering kokodamas, ornamental plants that grow out of balls of soil covered in moss, at the pop-up. Kokodama means “moss ball” in Japanese, and it’s considered a centuries-old Japanese garden art.

Textile designer Ana Isabel is bringing a selection of her hand-woven natural-fibre wall hangings and botanicals to the Garden. She’ll be doing live weaving demos during the weekend, too.

Schmear Naturals—a beauty finalist in our Made in Vancouver Awards—will be selling 100 percent food-based masks (which use ingredients such as pomegranate and spirulina) that will have your skin glowing in time for summer.

Tanvi Arora, ceramicist and founder of Tav Studio, recently moved from Dubai to Vancouver. And, luckily for us, she’s brought along her dreamy hand-painted ceramic planters, which you’ll be able to shop at the Garden.

Modern, minimalist fiberglass planters by Hudson and Oak will also be available at the plant market. A favourite of design maven Jillian Harris, the brand makes a range of white and pretty blush-hued round and cylinder pots.
