Because your best bro deserves a proper send-off.
1. Hop to It
Use the East Village Brewery Map to find a route that'll lead you to the best breweries in "Yeast Van" in a choose-your-own-adventure sort of way. We recommend you walk (read: stumble) or bike, visiting a mixture of large breweries like Parallel 49 and smaller rooms such as Off the Rail.
Because there's no better time than a bachelor party to ignite some friendly competition. At Bad Axe Throwing, you can book a private lane for the groom and his guests and blast your favourite beats from the bluetooth speakers. A coach will assist you with your throwing techniques and help organize a tournament. They also allow you to bring snacks or to hire a caterer for the event (because axe throwing is bound to work up an appetite).
If the groom is a betting man (or maybe just feeling lucky), book a private box at the Hastings Racecourse. The Sol VIP lounge seats 20 to 25 guests—and you can order food and beverages to help keep everyone properly nourished while placing wagers on your favourite steed.
If your friend's ideal evening involves playing Lord of the Rings trivia, wearing medieval helmets and watching sci-fi shows, Storm Crow Tavern is the perfect destination. Book "The Big Table" for a viking-style feast (costumes included) for a night of ultimate nerdom with eight to 14 friends.
5. Hit Some Balls
Put on your polo and head to the Stanley Park pitch-and-putt course. With views of English Bay and a pristine park setting, there's no better place to partake in a low-stakes round of 18 holes that range from an easy 40 to 100 yards (so it's fun for all the non-golfers in the group, too).
If the groom loves to sing (even if only in the shower), let loose with the crew at a karaoke bar. The Cobalt's regular Monday night karaoke (there are cheap drink specials aplenty!) is a popular choice—get there before 9 p.m. to put your fave songs in the queue. One of Vancouver's oldest gay bars, Numbers, is another fave spot; here, you can sing (un-hosted) karaoke in the upstairs "Funbox Room" any night of the week.
Go for a rip around the go-kart track at TBC in Richmond. We recommend booking either the Super Sprint package (includes a warm-up, qualifying heat and championship race) or the Endurance Relay (the party is split into teams and each must race to complete the most laps in a predetermined period of time). Finish the night off with an awards ceremony, complete with trophies if you're so inclined.
