Khatsahlano Street Party Returns This Saturday

Rain or shine, one of Vancouver’s largest annual outdoor events is on. Food, drink, music, shopping, and much more!

Taking place over 10 blocks of Kitsilano’s W. 4th Ave. between Burrard and MacDonald, this Saturday’s (July 11) Khatsahlano Street Party promises lots of food, four outdoor beer gardens, awesome bands, and tons of fun activities. The one-day-only event celebrating local talent attracts hundreds of artisans, more than 50 bands and solo performers, and 40-plus food carts. Over the years, Khatsahlano has grown to become the city’s biggest free outdoor music and arts festival, with about 160,000 attendees last year.ROCK OUTJust as Khats has blown up, so has Yukon Blonde. B.C.-bred indie-rocker Jeffrey Innes and his bandmates headline the TD Main Stage. We’re definitely looking forward to hearing their newest songs (from recently released album On Blonde) and more. Burrard StreetThe hypnotic vocals of frontwoman Andrea Lo demand to be noticed. Her soulful voice takes The Belle Game’s mellow, sentimental songs up several notches—expect a beautiful, emotional performance from this moody pop band. Burrard StreetThe half-sung, half-shouted vocals of Vancouver-based JPNSGRLS (say “Japanese Girls”) is quite a contrast to the Belle Game’s wonderfully layered songs. If you’re expecting a J-pop rendition of Girls’ Generation, you’re in for a surprise. This is garage rock at its best. And if you like what you hear, you can also catch them at the Pemberton Music Festival next week. Trafalgar StreetFOOD STOPSJohnny’s PopsSaturday’s gonna be hot, so suck on it. A popsicle, that is!
