The dreamy, pink-and-green space carries Auld's full range of West Coast-inspired bling.
Six years after launching her eponymous label, Vancouver-based jewellery designer Melanie Auld has opened a brick-and-mortar store.
Situated at 1575 West 6th Avenue, the dreamy 805-square-feet flagship carries Auld’s full range of West Coast-inspired bling, which includes gemstone necklaces, rings and earrings, as well as chains and engravable pieces—many of which are displayed in sleek glass casing or on cuts of sage-green Esmeralda Quartzite. The boutique also carries an in-house collection of Murano-glass vessels and elegant white ceramics, which are hand-produced in Italy where Auld’s family is from.
“Obviously, jewellery is what we do but I feel like the brand encompasses so much more than that,” says Auld. “So when we decided to open the store, I wanted to show more than just jewellery.”
Auld's jewellery is available both online and at stockists such as Nordstrom and the Cross Decor and Design. But she decided to open a brick-and-mortar store due, in part, to the recent launch of her fine-jewellery collection, which features delicate chains, bangles and medallions that use 14-karat solid-gold and diamonds. “When you’re offering jewellery that’s between $500 to $1,000, people usually want to see it in person.”
The flagship also gives Auld the chance to bring her brand to life in a tangible space. The designer’s Italian heritage is reflected in the custom terrazzo flooring and handcrafted ceramics on display, while accessories like bubblegum-pink chairs and a pair of fuzzy accent stools lend the room a playful, airy vibe. “I wanted to create a space that felt a little off the beaten path,” she says, “where, when you walk in, it feels like you're coming into a home.”
