    How We Did It For most categories, our 17 judges split into smaller, specialized teams. Anyone with a perceived conflict of interest in a particular category was excluded. Judges discussed long lists, then revisited rooms and voted separately by email to our third-party accountant, Craig Elliot at Crowe MacKay LLP, who tabulated, weighed, and adjudicated the results. Restaurant of the Year was a blind vote between Best Upscale and Best Casual. (The count was a nail-biter: 9 to 8.) Meet the judges here.
