Our decade-long love affair with Vij’s (Gold) continues because Vikram Vij and Meeru Dhalwala understand better than any other proprietors in town how to deliver finely nuanced, contemporary food in a warm, welcoming space. The strict no-reservations policy often means a long wait for a table, never a hardship when the wine flows and Vij himself is on hand to gently cajole and present snacks from the kitchen.
Next-door Rangoli (Silver) offers the same innovative Vij’s food in a more casual, lunch-focused space (where you can also stock up on take-home curries and pantry staples).
At Chutney Villa (Bronze) the South Indian food is still “definitive. It’s the kind of place where you fall into conversation with the next table over what to eat.”
Honourable Mentions to Original Tandoori Kitchen and Atithi.
