The Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards returns for its 26th annual edition on April 21—and you can follow the action live!
When the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards launched in 1989, the “ceremony” consisted of our then editorial staff and a small number of local chefs and restaurateurs gathered in a room for roughly an hour. Certificates were handed out, a single glass of wine per attendee was consumed, and then everyone returned to work. Last year, the awards’ silver-anniversary edition brought together more than 600 people to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre for a raucous afternoon-long celebration that then carried on late into the evening at Joey Bentall One and various other venues. We expect a similarly outsize bash this year, and for the first time you can witness the scene and learn about the winners in real time. Beginning at 2pm Tuesday (April 21), tune in to @vanmag_com for live tweeting of the day’s champions, and keep an eye on our Instagram for frequently posted pics from the opening reception, ceremony, and after-party.And then, be sure to pick up our May issue—hitting newsstand April 27—for more than 30 pages of informative writing and appetite-stoking photography dedicated to the awards. It’s the most sumptuous editorial package yet for the city’s most coveted culinary prize.
