SoulCycle is Coming to Vancouver

The cult spin studio is slated to make its Vancity debut this summer.

As if we weren’t a city already obsessed enough with spin classes, SoulCycle is coming to town soon. According to Retail Insider, SoulCycle has leased 1128 Mainland Street, a 3,518-square-foot space, slated to open this summer. (In Yaletown. Duh.)The spin studio has spawned a cultish devotion from fitness obsessives and celebs (Lady Gaga! Michelle Obama!) since opening its first location in New York in 2006—there are now 85 studios across the U.S., and the first Canadian location will open in Toronto this spring. The brand is known in equal parts for its intensive high-energy workouts and inspirational instructors (charisma is just as—if not more—important than actual fitness certification); classes are held in dark, candlelit rooms. In other cities, 45-minute classes cost around $35 each (drop-in only, no memberships available). Will this beloved brand be able to make a dent in the crowded fitness landscape? We’ll find out this summer.
