Three local stylists share their fave party-ready hairdos.
We’re barely into December, but already, the holiday parties have been non-stop. If you’ve already found the right outfit (does “festive attire” mean we can wear our ugly Christmas sweaters?) and perfected your winter makeup looks, all that’s left to do is find a party-ready hairstyle. To help, we talked to stylists at Suki’s, The Glamoury, and Juju Hair Lounge to get their take on the looks that’ll take you from the office Christmas party to a New Year’s Eve bash. The beauty of this simple up-do is its versatility. “Elegant and timeless, this modern chignon can be worn sleek for a classic look or loose for a softer, boho-inspired look,” says Leah Kerekes, owner/manager at Juju. (Photo: The Glamoury.)
For a touch of glamour, you can’t go wrong with classic old-Hollywood waves. According to the Glamoury’s owner AJ Woodworth, “the key to achieving this look is a beautiful deep side part.” For those trying it at home, “make sure to let the curls cool down and properly set,” she adds. “This will make your waves last longer.” (Photo: Suki’s Salon.)
For girls with thicker hair, Phuong Tran, stylist at Suki’s Salon, suggests this “soft and romantic” half up-do with a chic accessory. “It pairs perfectly with a flowy dress,” says Tran. “A sparkly accent ties the whole look together for the perfect holiday look.” (Photo: Suki’s Salon.)
Go big for the holidays! Tran suggests adding a front poof and loose, bouncy curls to elevate a high ponytail from an everyday look to a party-perfect style. “The poofed top elongates the face,” says Tran, “and the curls help create volume through the back.” (Photo: Juju Hair Lounge. The stylists at Juju Hair Lounge suggest pastel tones for blondes looking to experiment with colour this holiday season. Keep things warm (and chic!) with pastel pink, or cool it down with blue or purple. Those who are a little more daring can go all the way to white-blonde or silver for a frosty winter look.
