Shopping Diary: September 2009

GENTILLE ALOUETTE Eliza Lau, veteran film-industry stylist, has opened a lovely new shop in Gastown. “It’s like an old English dress shop,” says Lau, “with a sewing machine in back so our designers can work onsite.” Designers like Project Runway alum Genevieve Graham, and Lau herself (she refashions leather coats into dresses, and recycles fur stoles into bags). Look for Escargot Kids—cowboy shirt onesies with pearl snap closures and adorable A-line shift dresses—and Elsa Smith jewellery. 227 Carrall St., 604-688-6819

TEENFLO The makers of sharp separates and feminine boardroom wear are opening a second location in Oakridge Centre. Look for fall’s love-in with leather accenting Teenflo’s tailored pieces. 650 W. 41st Ave., 604-696-0402. Teenflo.com
