Live that sweet patio-loving life all year round!
The details: 303 – 1775 Quebec St. | $899,000 | 725 sq. ft. | Bed 2, Bath 2 | Built 2014The condo: All of this fine summer weather has most of us dreaming of patio perfection, usually available only at busy bars and restaurants throughout the Lower Mainland. If you’re tired of jockeying for one of these coveted spots, consider investing in your very own slice of deck heaven. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in this overwhelmingly hip part of East Vancouver boasts something rare: a patio with more square footage than the indoor portion of the home—860 square feet to be precise. Partly covered (we do live in a rain forest after all) and complete with an awesome built-in fire pit, this balcony is almost too good to be true. Indoors, there is an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, accented by the large windows that look out onto the gorgeous outdoor space, and the generous 8’6” ceilings mean you’ll never feel cramped. All appliances are like new as the building was only completed three years ago.The building: There are no shortage of desirable amenities in this 24-storey tower, including an upgraded fitness centre and sauna/steam room, bike room, and in-suite laundry in all units. Bonus: there are multiple businesses located on the bottom floor, such as Starbucks and a cafe called Tractor, so you barely need to leave the house for quick coffees and healthy meals. Or use your deck to easily scout out an opportune time to avoid the line at Earnest Ice Cream. The neighbourhood: Straddling the border between Mount Pleasant and Olympic Village, the intersection of 2nd and Quebec is a hotbed of activity with new business moving in at a brisk pace. Craft breweries, second locations for popular downtown restaurants, and more have all been popping up post-2010 Olympics as the former athlete’s housing location turns into the hottest neighbourhood in Vancouver. Once they renovate the area surrounding the soon to be demolished Georgia Street Viaduct, the area’s only going to increase in value. It’s also hard not to be active when you practically live on top of the sea wall. The drawbacks: Constant construction can become a nuisance what with the noise and traffic being redirected.
